The Key West area is full of great fishing opportunities. Take advantage of our upcoming season for tarpon fishing in the Key West Harbor, Wreck fishing for Permit, Snapper, Grouper & Cobia, or deep sea fishing for mahi mahi, sailfish and wahoo.
Key West is at the end of the Florida Keys island chain, a short drive from South Florida. Key West has a lot to offer to saltwater fisherman as well as non-fishing companions.
December and January will offer some of the best fishing action in the Lower Keys and Key West. The offshore fishing along the reef has been great for yellowtail snapper and grouper, plus a few nice mutton snapper mixed in. Offshore fishing has yielded some fun winter action already for sailfish, blackfin tuna and wahoo. We’ve even had some unseasonably large mahi-mahi in the mix.
On the reef there is also a lot of action from large barracuda, king mackerel and cero mackerel. Whether you want to live bait for sailfish or troll offshore for big game fish, this is a great time to be in the Florida Keys for fishing.
The shallow water fishing also gets good too. Large barracuda also makes their way up onto the flats to warm up and search for something to eat. These fish are explosive and will crash a tube lure right at the front of the boat. Sea trout, ladyfish, jacks, cobia, permit, bonefish and even tarpon can be anywhere in the backcountry or on the flats throughout our winter season.
