
Glow lures are nothing new to fishing tackle enthusiasts. Throughout the years the popularity for their use has varied from decade to decade. These days they are still popular in various parts of the world.

Why do glow lures have a following, and do they really make a difference? Proponents of glow lures for day time fishing feel that the glow lures which convert UV light from the sun into highly visible, almost neon light, will increase long – range visibility. This is because the deeper you go, even in crystal clear water the less light penetrates the water. Therefore the glow lures increase the contrast between the lures and their surroundings and allow for easy locating, tracking and attacking by predator fish always looking for baitfish that stand out from the crowd and look like an easy target. If the water is murky, better yet, as there is less light penetration to reflect off normal painted lures, the glow lures will illuminate themselves without the need for daylight to penetrate the murky water.
